Personnel Matters
You can join the brigade from the age of 18.
Currently, you can sign a contract until the end of martial law (mobilization) as well as for 3 years (for soldiers and sergeants) or 5 years (for officers).
You will receive the information directly at the military unit during consultation.
Financials
The salary of a new recruit (soldier) is from 24,500 UAH.
After completing BGMT, a soldier will receive a salary starting from 25,600 UAH.
The salary depends on rank, position, length of service, and direct performance of combat missions.
For service in a combat zone:
- additional monetary reward – 100,000 UAH;
- one-time monetary reward – 70,000 UAH.
Yes, according to Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolution No. 975 — upon determination of disability group or percentage of disability.
Yes. A contracted soldier receives a one-time monetary assistance amounting to 50% of the monthly salary multiplied by the number of years of service. A mobilized soldier receives 4% of the monthly salary multiplied by the number of months served.
Additionally:
- compensation for unused annual leave: daily salary × number of days;
- compensation for additional leave (for combatants): daily salary × number of days.
Yes. When signing the first contract, a one-time monetary assistance is provided:
- enlisted personnel – 8 living wages for able-bodied persons (as of 2025, one living wage is 3,028 UAH);
- sergeants and senior ranks – 9 living wages;
- officers – 10 living wages.
- Main payment – by the 20th of the current month to the salary card;
- Additional reward – by the 30th of the current month to the salary card.
Combat and Special Training
All soldiers who arrive at the brigade — both mobilized and those who signed a contract.
Yes, a medical examination is conducted at the military unit.
The training lasts 64 days.
At the National Guard of Ukraine training centers in Kyiv, Lviv, or Ivano-Frankivsk regions.
- uniform and footwear (according to season);
- body armor, helmet;
- IFAK;
- additional equipment.
- tactical training;
- firearms training (at least 99 hours of shooting practice);
- engineering training;
- tactical medicine (TCCC, MARCH algorithm);
- physical training;
- basics of electronic warfare;
- CBRN defense;
- theory: legal basics, cyber hygiene, Armed Forces regulations, humanitarian law, psychological training.
No, time off is not provided. Leave may be granted in individual cases (for family reasons).
Yes, from the moment you arrive at the training center, you are a member of the brigade.
BGMT is a basic course that every soldier must complete. If for some reason you do not complete it, you will be assigned to retake it.
No. After BGMT, you will arrive at the military unit and begin a 14-day adaptation course in the unit where you will serve.

Psychological adaptation takes place during BGMT and in the unit. Soldiers attend group and individual sessions with a psychologist and receive consultations on stress management. Support is provided before, during, and after performing combat tasks.
Recruits without military experience undergo a full BGMT course and a 14-day adaptation training in the unit. During service, they receive mentoring and support from experienced comrades.
Equipment
Yes, the military unit issues a full set of uniforms appropriate for the season.
Uniform and footwear (according to size and season), sleeping bag, sleeping mat, duffel bag.
Yes. You will receive:
- body armor (protection class 4–6, depending on the unit);
- helmet (Kevlar or composite);
- individual first aid kit (IFAK);
- additional equipment depending on the unit’s specifics.
